HVAC System Replacement and 200A Electrical Panel Upgrade in Oakland, CA

Comprehensive Residential Energy System Modernization by FUSE Service

FUSE recently completed a full upgrade of a residential HVAC system, along with a 200A main electrical panel replacement, at a property located in Oakland, California. This project was performed in full compliance with state and local codes, and included permitting, inspections, and warranty-backed equipment installation.

Scope of Work

HVAC Installation — SHP2 Heat Pump System

As part of the heating and cooling system modernization, our EPA-certified technicians performed the following:

  • Safe disconnection and eco-friendly disposal of the existing HVAC equipment
  • Installation of a new high-efficiency Daikin ducted and ductless heat pump system (SHP2)
  • Replacement of the refrigerant line set, installed in accordance with current building code
  • Installation of a new air handler and outdoor unit, properly mounted and secured
  • Testing and commissioning of the system to ensure optimal operation

Warranty Coverage:

  • 3-Year Labor Warranty from FUSE
  • 12-Year Limited Warranty on Daikin equipment (applicable for owner-occupied residences)

Electrical Upgrade — 200A Main Service Panel (EP2004)

To support the upgraded HVAC load and ensure long-term safety, we performed a complete panel replacement:

  • Removal or conversion of the existing electrical panel (used as junction box if relocation required)
  • Coordination with PG&E for permitting and service approval
  • Installation of a new 200A rated main panel with updated breakers
  • Ground rod installation and proper bonding of gas and water lines
  • Roof jack and sealing installation as required
  • Cleanup and debris removal upon completion

Power Interruption Notice:

Please note that power is typically shut off for one full working day during panel upgrade. In rare cases, it may take longer depending on site conditions — homeowners are notified in advance.

Permitting, Inspections & Compliance

FUSE handles the full permitting process, including:

  • Permit application and document submission to local building departments
  • Coordination with PG&E and relevant power authorities
  • HERS testing as required*
  • Scheduling of city inspections (up to two inspections included in the base scope)

*If ductwork is not replaced by FUSE, the HERS test is the responsibility of the homeowner. If ductwork is replaced and the HERS test fails, FUSE covers the cost of one re-test. CAS testing for rebate programs such as BayREN is not included and must be arranged and paid directly to a certified third-party provider.

Important Terms & Conditions

  • Structural engineering analysis for roof or attic-mounted HVAC equipment is not included in the base permit package and must be provided by the homeowner if required
  • Panel upgrades, when mandated for HVAC permit approval, are billed separately if not initially included
  • FUSE is not liable for permit denial due to pre-existing panel limitations if panel upgrade is not performed by us
  • Final payment of 100% is due on the last day of installation. If payment is delayed, all applied discounts will be removed from the final invoice
  • Rescheduling of inspections must occur no less than 72 hours in advance to avoid additional charges

Payment & Discount Policy

Clients who opt to pay via cash, check, Zelle, or Venmo are eligible for a 3% discount on the total project cost.
